Pattern Hunt

The summers sun hovered in the air as we walked towards Queens Park. The smell of pollen and leaves filled the air when we entered the park. The purpose for this visit was a hunt for patterns and how they come up everywhere. Here are some of the patterns we found...

Bridges
Playground material
Maps
Roses and flowers
Duck feathers
Spider Webs
paths
bricks
buildings
paths
and bark
Here are some photos I took...

The trip carried on from the gates of Queens park to the animal enclosures. There were lots of patterns surrounding us like animal coats, flowers and plants. A peacocks tail is the best example of a pattern for beauty as well as survivability, the four stages we had to fill in were B.O.S.S which stands for Beauty, Order, Strength and Survivability. The next stage of the trip were the Japanese Gardens the stand out pattern was the ground because they made it look like ripples from waves,  BYE!

Drama

Aloha blog readers, I'm not in Hawaii but I would like to be.Today we played four drama games, colour lines, one word stories and fortunately, unfortunately and the famous musical bumps. My favourite was one word stories so I'll start with it first. Three people sit up the front and make up a random story. When it was my turn there were fluffy houses, dragons and bananas. You were only allowed to say one word and you weren't allowed to say "because".

Our next game is colour lines.  Six people stood up on stage with a post it on their backs saying their colour. They had to call out the colour and then make the audience shut their eyes and they would shuffle around in a different order. We had to call out all the colours so it was a memory game.

The next game was fortunately unfortunately. You had to go in a pair and one person would be fortunately and the other is unfortunately. An example would be
I went to the supermarket,  fortunately now you have lots of food,  unfortunately it was closed,  fortunately you had tools to break in,  unfortunately I got caught by the police,  fortunately they were fake. And when we were finished some of the buddies came up and shared theirs with the class.

Until next time, BYE! :)

Caine's Arcade

I'm surprised that this boy didn't build his house out of cardboard and cellotape. His dad owns a used auto parts store and in the front of the building is Caine's arcade that he built by himself with cardboard and cellotape. After a while his mini arcade with only one game turned into a game PALACE with over 10 games. You can get a pass with 5 turns for $1 or a fun pass with 500 turns for $2. Caine never got any customers but I think he had a lot of determination because he never gave up and eventually a film maker came along for a car handle and he ended up playing in Caine's arcade with a fun pass. And this is how we found out about Caine and his homemade arcade. The film maker made a short movie about the game palace and he posted it on Youtube. He had over 3 million hits. And the film maker also got a flashmob to come to Caine's arcade which got people from all over the world to come to the famous arcade AND it was on the most popular news channels in America. Talk to you later, BYE :)

Drama Rotation

A loud thump hit the ground when we sat down in our mini game of musical bumps. The music played once again when I stood up and started dancing and suddenly the music stopped again. Everyone hit the floor again as ground shocks rushed through my body. I was eventually out and sitting on the steps.

I packed my bag but I'm unfortunately I'm not going on vacation, it's a game where you sit in a circle and say what your packing. There were some crazy ideas! Like a giant chocolate bar, a dog, a house and even the world! Lets just say it was a busy game!

A circle formed once again as we held hands and tried to get hoops around the circle without using our hands all we had to use was our legs, head and each other. I wasn't the best at it but at least I learned to work together with other people!
